Guitar Scale Exercises – Beginners Guitar Lesson 19
When playing these guitar scale exercises, the preferred picking pattern is alternate up and down strokes.
Note that the fret numbers on the
tablature also correspond the fingers used, since we are playing in the
“first”, or “open” position. The first exercise is in C major, followed
by the relative minor of C, A minor.

Notice how we jumped around a bit, and
didn’t really favor any particular note. By doing this, you can come up
with melodies, solos, bass parts, and other guitar parts. Play around
with your own versions, and create other guitar scale exercises for practice.
